...Montansier's
vineyard is located in the country of St-Amant de Graves, bordered
by the
Charentes Valley on the north, and by a green oak grove on the south.
it is exactly here
that we produce our superior
Cognac and Pineau
des Charentes.
Our family settled here in 1808, When Pierre Guignard and Jeanne Lecerf
got married.
Then, three generations followed and developed Pierre Guignard's property.
Unfortunatly,
the 1890's epidemic of phylloxera destroyed the vineyard. Louis Guignard
devoted himself
to rebuilding it. His daughter Louise and her husband, Emile Roy,
kept the reconstruction
going, and expanded it, saving the vineyard from destruction. The
vineyard has since grown by the acquisition of the lands of grande
champagne.
Nowadays, Mr Christian Jobit is currently the eighth generation of
"Guignard". His aim is to continue producing this extraordinary
elixir of Cognac
and this superb Pineau
des Charentes in the same way that his ancestors have produced
them for generation. |
